We had another great day in Ocracoke. The boys got to sleep in this morning and swim in Silver Lake. In the afternoon we took a ferry boat over to the historical Portsmouth Island. The abandoned island used to be a key fishing and trade port before geographic and economic forces forced people away. It is now a protected park and hosts visitors like us. The waters around the island are rich with clams and the boys enjoyed digging up a whole bucket full (including one hefty mussel). We invited some local friends to the boat and used the clams to make a community seafood boil. We will depart from Ocracoke early tomorrow morning and set a course for Manteo.
