Oriental

We completed a 70 mile passage from Manteo to Oriental this afternoon. The crew got to sail through the day an night. The team ran as smooth as ever running the ship and got to learn some advanced skills like using a sextant in obtaining position. In oriental we explore the town, played some Ultimate Frisbee, and had a final steak dinner. Tomorrow morning we will rise bright and early to make our way back to Camp and say our farewells.

Departing Manteo

We have departed the Manteo waterfront and are headed west towards the Alligator River. We will anchor alongside the Alligator tonight. We may not have phone reception to post again tonight but will keep the blog updated when we get a chance.

Manteo

We have spent all of Sunday and Monday in Manteo, NC. The girls enjoyed a pizza diner after the aquarium Sunday night. On Monday we hiked and had a cook out at Jockeys Ridge, swam in the ocean, and went out to dinner for Isabelle's birthday. We will leave Manteo tomorrow morning to head back across the sound.

Sunday in Manteo

We arrived at the dock in Manteo, NC at 10am after another great 15+ hour overnight sail. The crew got to swim in the rain and visit the local aquarium. They are looking forward to a pizza dinner and a good rest before we explore Jockeys Ridge tomorrow morning.

Surfing in Ocracoke

The girls had a great day today hanging on the beach making designs in the sand (even one of the Jeanie B made by Molly). Then the girls surfed later in the afternoon and some were very close to getting up! Just left the dock at Ocracoke and now heading off Manteo! More to come!

Overnight sail to Ocracoke

We have just arrived at Silver Lake in Ocracoke after a great 15 hour overnight sail. The crew took turns at the helm throughout the night and did a great job holding a steady course. They got to experience a sunset and sunrise on the Pamlico Sound.
